Finnish researcher Oskari Lahtinen at the University of Turku has devised a scale for measuring Critical Social Justice (or woke) attitudes. His research uncovered a robust gender difference, showing that critical social justice attitudes are much more common among women than men. Another finding was that the measure had high validity.

The Critical Social Justice Test is based on the research of Finnish researcher Oskari Lahtinen at the University of Turku, notably: Lahtinen, O. (2024), Construction and validation of a scale for assessing critical social justice attitudes. Scand J Psychol.
The test provides feedback such as the following:
Very Low Critical Social Justice Attitudes: Individuals in this category demonstrate minimal agreement with critical social justice issues. They do not align or agree with the way concepts such as systemic oppression, privilege, and discrimination are framed and tend to strongly disagree with the social justice agendas set by those who are in greater agreement with critical social justice attitudes.
Low Critical Social Justice Attitudes: Individuals in this category possess limited agreement with social justice principles and typically disagree with what the woke see as the need for advocacy or activism on behalf of so-called social justice. These people typically do not agree with the way concepts such as diversity and inclusion are framed and are also likely to disagree that the woke agenda really points to systemic injustices.
Average Critical Social Justice Attitudes: Individuals in this category demonstrate a moderate level of agreement and occasional engagement with social justice principles. They recognize the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion to some extent and may support causes related to social justice when opportunities arise. Their perspectives on these matters may vary, however, and they are likely to also disagree with the social justice agenda in several respects.
High Critical Social Justice Attitudes: Those with high critical social justice attitudes demonstrate a significant commitment to understanding and supporting social justice principles. They actively engage with issues of systemic oppression and privilege, striving to challenge oppressive systems and advocate for marginalized communities. Their actions are guided by a desire for a more equitable society.
Very High Social Justice Attitudes: Individuals in this category exhibit a strong dedication to actively promoting and advocating for social justice principles. They are deeply committed to challenging systemic oppression, amplifying marginalized voices, and creating positive change in their communities. Their passion for equity and justice drives their actions, inspiring others to join them in the pursuit of a more inclusive world.
