Most people want to be liked, but certain traits can make someone consistently unlikable. Dr. Stephen Reysen, a psychologist at Texas A&M University-Commerce, developed the Reysen Likability Scale to identify traits that make people likable. By inverting these findings, we can explore what makes someone unlikable.

The IDRlabs Unlikable Person Test (IDR-UPT) was developed by IDRlabs. The IDR-UPT is based on the work of Dr. Stephen Reysen, Ph.D., who researched the traits of likability in his development of the Reysen Likability Scale. The IDR-UPT is not associated with any specific researchers in the field of personality psychology, social psychology, or any affiliated research institutions.
The IDRlabs Unlikable Person Test was informed by Dr. Reysen’s paper as published in Reysen, S. (2005). Construction of a new scale: The Reysen Likability Scale. Social Behavior and Personality: An International Journal, 33(2), 201-208, adapted here to assess unlikability by inverting likability traits.
The work of Dr. Reysen looked into key factors that define likable people. It has been adapted here to inform the diagnostic criteria of this Unlikable Person test by considering the absence or opposite of those traits. The present test is intended for educational purposes only. IDRlabs and the present IDRlabs Unlikable Person Test are independent of the above researcher, organizations, or their affiliated institutions.
The Unlikable Person Test is based on famous and well-regarded research into the traits of likable people, inverted to explore unlikability.
